Recently I needed to disassemble my desktop speakers, model Sony Vaio VGP-SP1. I needed to clean the volume control potentiometer with contact cleaner. It turned out that removing the four screws at the back of the speakers was not enough. There was 3mm double-sided adhesive tape all the way around the front panel, adhering it to the speaker housing. I had to use a jimmy knife to separate the tape and then a metal spudger to lift the front panel. The easiest way to remove it is by pulling away at the top.
